Standing Firm
About a year ago I experienced my first gale type storm on Lake Superior’s North Shore. We began our trip here at the Duluth North Pier Lighthouse. The waves struck the shoreline relentlessly as the rains fell and winds prevailed. Capturing images in these conditions was an exhilarating adventure. Keeping the front of your lens dry and a hand on your tripod at all times so it didn’t blow over, all while trying to keep your eyes open to anticipate the next epic wave!! Through it all, this lighthouse, now over 100 years old, stood firm. Hundreds of shutter actuations later, I managed to walk away with the frames needed to composite this image that depicts the power and underlying beauty of these storms.
